Arsène
SARI

(1895-1995)

Arsène SARI (1895-1995) was a French painter born in Marseille. He settled in the Montparnasse district of Paris and lived there for over thirty years. While working at the Paris Metro, he continued to paint and met many of the great artists of the early twentieth century. He was a close friend of Antoine Bourdelle and was advised by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. However, he also returned frequently to the south of France.

In the post-war years, Sari was very present in Marseille and lived with his wife in Roquevaire between 1964 and 1978, in a former factory. This is where he became the dean of the "painters of Péano," a new generation of bohemian artists who settled at the Arcenaulx. Sari then moved near Sens in the Yonne, and later to Rigny-le-Ferron in the Aube, where he had a workshop. Sari's painting is situated between Impressionism and Fauvism. He enjoyed playing with color and light, transitioning from the warm southern light to the bluish light of the Île de France, Burgundy, or Champagne. Sari's work is well-regarded and held in private collections and museums throughout France. We have created a website to showcase Sari's artwork and provide information on his life and career. Our platform offers a comprehensive collection of his paintings, allowing art enthusiasts and collectors to appreciate and acquire his unique pieces.
